The funeral and wake

Julies funeral took place in the chapel of st hilda's at teesside crematorium, at 15,45 in the afternoon, the last one of the day to accommodate the staff at Jeans kitchen where Julie was an employee, this was so Jean could close the cafe early, so that she didn't have to pick and choose which staff could come to the funeral and who had to stay to man the cafe. The service went well (if you can say such a thing about a funeral) with the humanist minister reading a poignant story about Julies life which can be seen under the life story heading above, and I even lead the mourners in a rendition of one of Julies favourite karaoke songs, U2's with or without you. After the service the wake was held in the Linthorpe hotel, as that was our favourite watering holes on a friday night, as we were friends with the landlord and landlady, Pete and Esme. Our friends and family had a decent drink and a hearty buffet courtesy of our good friend Sandra Cross. Quite a few of the congregation then went on to the Cleveland hotel , in linthorpe village as there was a karaoke on, and a few of Jeans staff were quite worse for wear, Jean herself falling over full length on entering the lounge, and Louise her under-manager fracturing her big toe doing her infamous leg up on the bar routine! So we did give Julie a rather riotous send-off!
